If you've just come from So Much Better With Age, Welcome! If not, make sure you stop by and see her lovely home!
Welcome to my new home...just purchased in July of this year! Buying this house was a leap of faith for me and I'm so excited to share it with you! The kids and I have affectionately named our little house Hydeaway Cottage.
The Living Room...
The main floor of my home is decorated in a holiday palette of silver and gold with natural elements thrown in for good measure.

You may notice that these "JOY" letters were plain kraft paper above and are silver in these photos...after editing the above photos, I thought the display could use a little something so I spray painted the letters and added garland. (Ah, the life of a designer.)
The Dining Room
I'm a bit of a minimalist, so my dining room is very serene. I love the lighting and the furniture, so I thought just adding a bit of bling as a centerpiece on the pretty beaded snowflake runner would be enough.
The pretty gold-framed painting on the wall is an antique that I just received from my parents. I am in LOVE with it, and the colors fit right into my holiday color scheme (even though I plan on leaving the painting up year round.)
I spray painted these pretty forsythia branches gold and put them in a neutral toned vase. Then added some Christmas ornaments for a festive display.
You may notice, I have a little thing for Christmas trees...you can find tutorials on how to make the cute felt trees here, and the yarn-wrapped trees here.
The Little Boys' Bedroom
I added some pops of red (tartan of course! We are Scottish after all) to the little boys' room. Along with snowflake sheets, fur blankets, twinkle lights and a tinsel tree!
In my room, I put up a favorite limited edition signed print that I purchased about 20 years ago when I worked at a custom framing shop. I just love this painting of horses pulling logs through the snowy woods...it reminds me of our years in New England! (Oh and I added some more tartan in my room!)
My Daughter's Room
Feathered angel wings, a white tree, snowflake lights, flannel sheets adorned with fir trees, and a cute figure skating bunny bring a touch of the holiday to my daughter's bedroom.
