How cute is this chevron dress?

Last Minute Halloween Craft: Paint Chip & Washi Tape Candy Corn Garland~

Nothing like putting things off until the last minute. I picked up these paint chips for.ev.ah ago because the colors reminded me of candy corn, and I got this *brilliant* idea that they would make a fun garland.  I found them again a couple of days ago, and hurried to make this cute little garland to share with you all.  I figure it's better late than never.  And if you like it, you can always file the idea away for next year, am I right?

Loft Bedroom: "Built-in" Bed Progress~

Just a little update for you today...last week I shared with you the design for the "built-in" bed that is going into the loft bedroom space for my oldest son.

Rough Sketch of What the Bed will Look Like

Well, on Saturday, my Papa delivered the bed! It wasn't completely finished...it still needed to be sanded, primed and painted - but I am more than happy to do that part since he so graciously built it for us.

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday.

For today's Frugal Round-up, some cute and easy projects...

First up, I love this Leaf Bowl DIY shared by Better Organized Living.  What a great use for dollar store faux leaves!

I Have a Cold~

I have a rotten cold. You know, the kind that makes you want to curl up in bed and stay there all day?  So today I thought I'd share with you some bedroom inspiration.  I could curl up in any one of these beds, and I'm pretty sure my cold would feel better immediately.  (Ha!  If only it were that easy.)

If you love these rooms too, please click through to the original source before pinning.  THANKS!

Neutral and restful. I'm loving the sunburst mirrors above the headboard too.

"Built-in Bed" for the Loft Bedroom~

I mentioned in my post on Boys' Space Inspiration last week, that we are in the process of turning my loft home office into a bedroom for my oldest boy.  The loft is on the small-ish side, so we needed to think creatively in the area of space management.  After studying the space (and measuring it about 100 times) I decided that creating a "built-in" bed was the best option.

I am putting quotations around the term "built-in" because - as you know if you've read this blog before - we are living in a rental house.  So creating an actual built-in isn't really an option.  But creating a piece of furniture that will look built-in when it's completed... is.

In order to create this "built-in" bed, I sweet-talked my dad into helping me out.  And by that I mean, I drew up the plan, and he is building it.  :-)  The space isn't quite as wide as a standard twin size bed is long, so the piece had to be custom made, and my Papa is a furniture maker extraordinaire!

Here's a rough sketch I worked up of what I want the bed to look like when it's complete. The three squares in front will be storage drawers with decorative "x" detailing on them.

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!

For today's Frugal Round-up I  have some fun furniture to share!

First up, I fell head over heels for this coffee table makeover from Sophia's Decor.   The houndstooth is classic and funky all at the same time!

"Pin"spiration for Boy Spaces~

We're playing musical rooms around our house again.   The last time we played it was because this work-from-home mom needed a space for my home office.  This time, it's because I decided that a bedroom space for my 12-year-old was more important than a dedicated office for me.

You see, my oldest son has been quite patiently sharing a bedroom with his 5 and 7-year-old little brothers.  But it is getting to be kind of hard for him.  And I think that he really deserves a space to call his own.  So I decided that we could turn the loft area which is currently my office into a bedroom-of-sorts for the tween - complete with a built-in bed, a floating nightstand, and some as-yet-to-be-determined display space for his lego creations.

The fun part of this is the fact that not only does it mean decorating his space, it means re-decorating the boys' bedroom!  So today, I thought I'd just share a bunch of boy spaces that I've been collecting on Pinterest.   After all, you can never have too much "pin"spiration, right?

The Handbuilt Home by Ana White, a free furniture plan, and a giveaway~

This post is sponsored by The Handbuilt Home.

I'm sure you've all heard the great news by now, but just in case you haven't...my friend, Ana White, has written a book!   Yep!  You know Ana, right?  (How could you not know Ana if you've been around blogland very long at all?)  Ana is the genius behind Ana-White.com, the popular website she created where she posts her amazing furniture plans.

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday! (I've hosted over 150 of these linkies now - Can you believe it?)

Anyhoo, for my Frugal Round-up this week, I'm featuring room makeovers. I don't normally like to feature all room reveals for the Frugal Round-up, but this week I thought it'd be fun. I hope you agree. :-)

First up, I am smitten with this craft room/home office from Sophia's Decor. It's absolutely charming. I am especially enamoured with the bookshelves full of clocks. I love clocks!

Halloween Craft with the Kiddos: Mr. Bottle Bones~

Last year, the kiddos and I ran across this Halloween project from Family Fun Magazine that they reeeaaalllly wanted to make:  Mr. Bottle Bones.

Thing is, it takes 8 gallon-size plastic milk bottles to make, and it was too close to Halloween to save up that many.  So this year, I started saving milk bottles in September, and we finally had enough a few days ago.

Crock Pot Cooking: Baked Potatoes~

I adore Fall.  It is my absolute favorite time of the year!  But it is also when life starts to get reaalllly busy.  So this year I have decided that I am going to simplify dinner time by making good use of the old Crock Pot.   I just love my crock pot!!

Product Review: Packaways - Reusable Storage~

I have said it before, and I'll say it again:  I only review products on this blog which I truly think my readers will love.  And today, I have one of those products to share:  Packaways

If you are anything like me, you probably have lots of stuff to store.  (And by lots, I mean TONS.)  And, if you're like me, you probably don't trust storing things in cardboard moving boxes.  I *may* have had one too many bad experiences with those.  That's why Packaways are great.  They look like regular old boxes, but wait...

Frugal Friday~

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!

I'm so glad you're here! Let's get right to the Frugal Round-up...

First up, check out this great x-leg bench tutorial from Chronicles of Home!  I can't wait to try this one out!

Next, I love this cabinet transformation by The Thrifty Home.  I've said it before and I'll say it again!  Nothing transforms a space quicker than paint!  Lovely.

Window Shopping~

So I ran into Target the other night to buy something glamorous like garbage bags or the like, when I happened to glance at their fall home decor collections.  ( Now, let me state right here, I am not affiliated with Target, I'm just posting this for fun.)  Perhaps it's because I just finished designing an equestrian-themed space for a client...or perhaps it's just my own love of all things equestrian, but I was really smitten with their new equestrian-themed accents.

I was immediately taken with this herringbone magazine holder.  The leather belt-detail for the handle was just the right touch.  Classic.

This vase in the shape of a trophy cup is adorable.  They had these in a couple of different sizes.  Wouldn't they look great in a bookcase?

Nestkeeping: September Monthly Recap and Top 5 Referrers~

September was a busy month around these parts... school was in full swing, which meant that I had a *bit* more time during the days to get some projects done around the house - and then to share them with you!

Here are my favorite posts from September:

THE LAUNDRY ROOM REVEAL!  I loved the fact that I could take a dreary, task-driven space and turn it into a cheerful, colorful place to be.

After the reveal, I simply had to share all of the DIY projects that went into creating the space.  You can find out how I stencilled the wall, created customized laundry bins, and created no-smudge chalkboard art.
