Fashion and Interior Design~

I have mentioned before that I received my college degree in Fashion.  And, of course, I have loved interior design since I was a little girl.  One of the things that I find fascinating is the way the two work together.  I love to watch the trends that flow easily from fashion to interior design and back again.  In fact, in my own work, at least, I have a difficult time completely separating one from the other.

I feel that looking in a person's closet is a good indicator as to how they would decorate their home.  In fact, I have a series here on the blog that I call "If This Outfit Were a Room" where I pull outfits from catalogs or websites and use them as inspiration for decorating moodboards.

Here are a couple of examples...

Then last week when I was browsing on Pinterest - ah, Pinterest, where would I be without you? - I found these great pins from the Alice Lane blog.  (Love Alice Lane!)  In these, an outfit is pictured, and then a room(s) where the color combinations are similar.

Fascinating, isn't it?

And so, my dear readers,  just for fun...take a look inside your closet today and see if it you can find similarities between what you wear and how you decorate.  It just may surprise you!

Have a great day~

I love the combining of fashion and interior design too. I think I will just be moving into that Black and Green room now.

Fun post. PS, reading through my latest issues of "Country Living" while waiting to pick up kids, and there you were getting your award in NY! Huge Congrats, it looked really fun.

It's funny how your eye is drawn to certain colors and styles and how it relaxes you. Love your comparisons

How fun this post is! And, how true. How a prospective client dresses tells me a lot about the kind of interior they might be comfortable in. I love all of your images, and boy, do you make a great point through them! :)
