Bunk Rooms: Shared Space Inspiration~

As I mentioned in this post, we are moving.  And in the move, we are going to be downsizing.  So all of my boys are going to be sharing a room.  I have been wanting to build a bunkroom for ages...and this gives me the perfect excuse opportunity.

So today I want to share a few bunk room ideas from my inspiration files...

I love the nautical theme in this bedroom and the  "porthole" window near the lower bunk.

I love the built-in beds, the drawers underneath for added storage...the "wainscotting" molding on the sides of the beds.  Perfection.
Shingle style home in Hanover NH traditional bedroom

In this room, I'm in love with the sconce above the top bunk and the planked walls. mmmmm.

Although not technically "bunks", I love the built-in cubbies for each bed...and the curtains for privacy.
Bunk Room eclectic kids

This room has amazing use of space...love the built-in bookcases and workstations on each side of the bed ( although that top bunk needs a higher safety railing, if you ask me.)

This room had me at "hello". I love the putty colored built-ins. The stairs/ladder is pure perfection. And I simply adore the addition of the built-in bookcases at the head of each bed.
More This

I have been enamoured of this bunk space for a long time. I love the juxtaposition of industrial elements with feminine elements (and that oversized photo is amazing!) Of course, remove the butterflies and the twinkle light "chandelier" and this space could work just as well for a group of crazy boys like mine.

This is perhaps my favorite bunk room image of all time. It's from BHG, and I've had it in my inspiration photos since, well, I've lost track of how long it's been there. I love EVERYTHING about this room. The bunks are amazing, the built-in workstations are inspired, the colors are perfect.  Now to figure out how something like this can translate to a smaller space. Ohhhhh the possibilities.

Sure does give me a lot to think about.  Whether you have kiddos or not, I hope that you've been able to gather a little inspiration from this set of shared spaces too!

Have a great day~

I love these!! I have a loft bed for my son now for toy storage : ) But I have always LOOOVE built in beds. Even if I don't have anymore kids one day, when I'm in the house I'll be in for a while, I want build in beds! I think it makes the room look cleaner! My favorite is the green one with a desk on both sides! So much use of one wall!!

I love these rooms. I have two boys who share a room and I have told hubby if we move again I would love to have a bunk room for them with a 2nd set of bunks for friends or relatives.

Oh my gosh, Wendy! It's like your took the words out of my mouth. The 3rd to last-- my parents have it saved to seriously do it for their grandkids.

(you have a bigger copy so I'll have to get that bigger picture ;)

and I had the bottom one saved forEVER in my idea folder. I love it.

But seriously? I think my new fave is that adorable curtains one. I could so see you doing that!

Thanks for sharing this! One of our upcoming project is to move both our boys into one room and build bunk beds. I've had the hardest time finding bunk bed ideas using search engines??? I'm bookmarking this post and using it when we start! Thanks!

I love all these. We live in a smaller home and use bunkbeds for space in both bedrooms for the four boys. We have gone through numerous bed sets as boys are hard on them. The best sets we've found are from Pier One Kids and This End Up. My boys are over 100 lbs now and they need safety. These brands don't move an inch when the boys jostle around or jump off the top bunk. Yes, they do that. I found one set from a friend and one on Craigs List. The This End Up is the best for scratches and dents. It's solid and sanded until it's as soft as butter. We have the bookcase, dresser and desk as well. I can highly recommend it for boys!
Best of luck with the move. It will get better. We too have had our struggles over the past three years. God is watching over us and keeps taking care of us.

I love all of these. Have you seen the Boys bunk room at August Fields blog? I love all of her rooms, her kitchen is to die for and her boys bunk room belongs in a magazine. You should check it out!

Ohhh! I have been in love with bunk rooms for forever too! I have a whole stash of photos of them that I hope someday to get to use as inspiration. Your kids will love it!

Love them all! I would love the built in beds with curtains, but our space is not designed for that. Still trying to get all the details worked out in the redoing of the younger kids' room. It's harder to find shared spaces that can incorporate an 8 year old girl, a 6 year old girl, and a 4 year old boy, but I will prevail! Thanks for the inspiration!
