Holiday Inspiration~

I decorate for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. I just like to give Thanksgiving its due. A lot of times I feel like it is the forgotten holiday. Wedged in there between Halloween and Christmas...the prelude to Black Friday. And, honestly, Thanksgiving is one of my very favorite holidays. So I wait until the next day to pull out my Christmas decor. (No offense to anyone that likes to decorate pre-Thanksgiving...I KNOW it's hard to wait.)

But, all of that said, I start thinking about and preparing my Christmas decor long before that. (Like right after Halloween.) And this year I've decided to go with mostly whites and silvers. I have a lovely neutral palette running through my head.

....And then my copy of Country Living arrived. And I saw these photos....

And I swooned. I just love them. all. Interesting how this pale-on-pale Christmas color scheme seems to be popping up all over the place this year. I guess great minds think alike, huh?

And today I am especially thankful for a warm house to live in as a blizzard rages outside and the temperatures plummet to the low teens. I know how blessed we are. How very blessed.

Have a great day~

I just saw this yesterday when I opened my Country Living -that first picture took my breath away! I love the beautiful, serene feeling of all the rooms. I'm torn between neutral & the fun vintage-y feel for the holidays. I might have to do a little of both...

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!

I got my issue on Friday and have been rereading it over and over! LOVED that house! Especially the angel wing chairs. She pulled it off with out it looking cheap or chintzy. And the price on those is amazing!

We dont have Thanksgiving here - which is a shame.
I love the photos - they are gorgeous - rather taken with the wings on the backs of the chairs - too cute!
I would love my house to be so pale and interesting but with kids and dog I dont think it would last!

Totally agree with you in decorating after Thanksgiving---I love the Fall so putting the decor is hard. Love the simple look of the Christmas decor though! So simple and clean!

Oh, if only I could find my mail key. I know my Country Living magazine is waiting for me in the mailbox. Maybe I'll bribe the mailman with cookies and he'll give me my mail without the key!

I am 110% behind you on this. Poor Thanksgiving. Seeing Christmas in stores before Halloween made me so disheartened. I wanted to issue tickets to my neighbors when I saw them setting up their Christmas trees and putting up their lights this week. Gosh, I sound like a grinch. I swear I'm not! I love Christmas and go all out for it but I wait til after Thanksgiving. It ease the holiday decor urges I just go all out for Thanksgiving. My toddlers bday is Dec 1st so I think we are going to wait til after his bday and then decorate for Christmas.

I love decorating for Christmas, but I also love Thanksgiving. Most people just think of Thanksgiving as a nonworking holiday, than a day to reflect to our history. In my case, I spent my day with plumbing (Minneapolis-based). My bathtub was clogged and I got to call someone to fix it. What a coincidence my best friend, living in Minnesota also spend her day with plumbing (Minnesota-based)!

Either way, Happy Thanksgiving! I love your designs by the way.
