let the sun shine in

This was the view from our back deck yesterday in the early afternoon. Yes, that is snow. And yes, the last time I checked, the calendar said that it is the end of May. When I woke up yesterday morning to heavy, wet snow falling outside, I must admit, it weighed me down a little. Where is spring in these parts?

But then I looked at my kitchen table, and my mood lightened considerably.

Why?

One word...

Flowers.

Every couple of weeks, I grab myself a bunch of the $5 flowers at my local Wally world. Since their selection varies from week to week, I just grab whatever catches my eye.

This week it is this pretty bunch of yellow sunshine...indoor sunshine. They remind me of a Van Gogh painting.

Studies have proven that fresh flowers in the home can actually alleviate depression. And I figure $5 every couple of weeks is a worthy investment in my mental health.

and so is a little Ghirardelli chocolate. ;-)

Have a fabulous day (go buy yourself some flowers)~

Hi Wendy...I Sooo agree with you ..about the flowers...from Wally World...and the chocolate...especially the chocolate! Too bad I'm on a diet! Rats!

I adore flowers and to me they make our house truly lovely. I was posting about that just today..on what you need to make a house feel homey.

I'm so sorry you are snowed in! Our A/C just froze up and now we've got to get it repaired again. I'll be sweltering while you are snowed in...no fair! We are already into deep summer. Wish it was cool again!

Great post! Your photos are really pretty!

Snow? Wow! My goodness, who would've ever thought? But, on a positive note, how pretty are your flowers? Love them! I always catch myself looking at the $5 flowers in walmart too : ) You know what? I think I WILL buy myself some the next time I go to pick something up there. Everyone's worth a bunch of $5 flowers every once in a while...me included. Thanks, friend : ) Have a blessed day!

I'm sorry, where do you live again so I can remember never to move there? LOL! I can not believe you are having snow at the end of May. I will never complain about it being cloudy ever again.

However...

Those flowers are absolutely gorgeous. They are bright and so summer like, you can't help but smile.

Snow?! Crazy. When making an appointment yesterday and hearing the person reply, "okay, next week is June" I had to pause and say, "What?!?!" Hard to believe with the winter like weather we are having...but yes, flowers can brighten any day and space!

Oh my goodness, where do you live? I lived in Northern Michigan for a time, so I know it is a possibility in some places this time of the year. But I've been back in Texas long enough that it is hard to imagine!! So can you imagine being sweaty getting in and out of the car when you're shopping? It's in the low 90's here already.

Crazy weather, huh? At least the flowers are 'springy'. :) I think I'll buy some today, too.

I am currently obsessed with bright colored carnations and at 2 for $1 I can load up on a pretty big bouquet for not a lot of moola. You flowers DO look like Van Gogh's ;)

Snow? Oh my, it's in the 90's here and high humidity...way too much for me this early. I guess we can't special order, huh? :-)

Flowers are so important to me! I love having them inside my home. I try to buy them every once in awhile and I think that tomorrow is the day.

Thanks for sharing!
