Acrylic Furniture~

Acrylic. Lucite. Whatever you want to call these see-through beauties, I'm enamoured. I believe that even the most traditional home needs a touch of the modern in it. And acrylic furniture can do just that...stunningly. Something about the "sheer" quality of these furniture pieces lends a sort of ethereal sophistication to a space. And I find that very appealing.

I have long admired these Louis-style ghost chairs. They offer traditional lines, in a very contemporary material.

This coffee table is contemporary in form as well, but it is a great alternative if you don't want to visually add weight to a room. I've been admiring Lauren's ever since she got it.

I think this particular chair is amazing! I really love the metal legs. Yesterday, while wandering around IKEA, I noticed that they have an acrylic chair with metal legs for a mere $99. (Trust me, if you look around online for these sorts of chairs, you'll realize that's a steal.) I got so excited when I saw it...but couldn't quite convince the hubby that we needed one. I'm still plotting planning where I can fit one in our house...and I will convince him...oh yes, I will.

I just thought this last one was pretty...I love the addition of the seat cushion. Very unexpected.

Have a lovely Tuesday~

Hmmm...you got me looking at these pieces in a different light. Especially with a seat cushion. Thanks!

I've always loved that ghost chair. I'm not sure it would work in my home, but I like the idea of the classic shape meeting the modern material. It's also such a great idea to use transparent furniture in a small space to trick your eye. Great post.

I've always wanted acrylic Louis chairs (without arms) around a big traditional wooden table. Problem is my husband won't go for it. I'm still plotting too! ;)

Love Lucite, have always wanted just such a coffee table. This weekend in Chicago, visiting my "chicago mom's" apartment I saw she still has hers from 20 years ago, and it is looking fabulous as ever!

BTW, Ikea has a great looking Lucite chair in their stores right now, great price and lines...Janell

I love acrylic furniture. I've been drooling over a certain coffee table for over a year now... it just isn't in the budget. :(

I would ADORE a lucite chair but I majorly lucked out a few months ago with a free table. I was dropping some stuff off at goodwill and the lady in the car in front of me was taking her stuff out of her trunk handing it to the goodwill guy and I saw her pull out a clear lucite table. I jumped out of my car and shouted "are you getting rid of that table??" She said ya...and I said....Can I have it??" she chuckled and said sure. So I took home a FREE vintage lucite table. It has a glass top and is super unique and sculptural. Its currently my nightstand. Loooove me some lucite!

As a designer, I'm envisioning this ghost chair in the mix of black funiture with a very colorful cushion - just smacked right in the middle of the room as a small focal point.
