A Little Fireplace Inspiration~

Our house has two fireplaces. I love fireplaces, but until now, we've never lived in a home that actually had one. And so I find myself looking for inspiration on how to decorate these two fireplace mantels.

With that in mind, here's a little fireplace inspiration for you today...

Personally, I love the idea of a mirror over the fireplace (definitely the approach we're taking for our upstairs fireplace. And here, I also love the repetition of the 4 topiaries. Simple. Pretty. (And did you notice the towels in the background? Yeah, it's a bathroom. Swoon.

This image is from Pottery Barn. What I really love here? The mix of finishes. Wood, silver, metal. And the bird's nest under the cloche (it's partially cut off in this image...you might want to look in the catalog to see the full effect.) I'm also really lovin' the silver finish on the mirror. A little sparkle never hurt anybody. ;-)

I just love a shabby, white fireplace. This one is gorgeous. What I'm really loving here is the layering of mirrors.

I like this mantel for its simplicity. Love the cloches. Love the mercury glass. (Could use a touch of color however.)

I love the convex mirror in this photo. I also love the topiaries, although personally, I think the scale is a little off. In general, I'm not a huge fan of symmetry in decorating, but I like the symmetrical look of this mantel. Very calming.

What's your favorite way to dress up a fireplace?

Have a great day~

I'm trying to replicate the pottery barn mantle as we speak! I just need a rod iron candelabra type thing and it will be done!

Since Christmas has ended my mantle seems so empty and uninspiring. We currently have a large mirror, some candle sticks and 2 owl figures up there but honestly it just seems so "dull". I am ready for spring to brighten it up with color or some plants or something. I love the layered mirror look!

I have two toparies on my fireplace and some family pictures. I love the white fireplace with the layered mirrors.

What great fireplace inspiration - mine is so blaaaaa to say the least! I love the one with the two lamps on each end, it would be perfect for mine. Again, thanks for the great idea. Have a great day!

I love seeing mantles with posh invitations on them. Sadly, no one invites us anywhere, so we haven't got any! We have huge candlesticks, a clock and some photos. Not very imaginative I'm afraid. xx

Hmmm....good question. I have built in bookshelves on either side of our family room fireplace, so I don't really want a lot going on on the mantle in between. I prefer a "clean" look. Right now I have a round mirror, and will be getting either sconces on either side, or a pair of topiaries with maybe a square piece of artwork on an easel set towards one side. We'll see. I tend to be a chicken when decorating a mantle! :)
Blessings,
Stacey

Thanks for posting such great inspiration on this doom and gloom day (at least it is here in my part of the world...)

My house also came with 2 fireplaces. 2 Pink marble fireplaces! Not that cottage, if you ask me. They were the 2 first things to leave us. They are now done in used brick and white wood. Much better!!!

Great minds think alike. My mantle is giving me grief this week. It is slowly going all cream and neutral. (very slowly)

Good luck to you!!

I have a huge mirror that I bought at a garage sale for $10 on my mantle. Right now there's only a snowman and a candle. haha I haven't gotten around to redecorating after Christmas.

Nice inspiration... mine is currently loaded up with frames, below 2 rod iron hurricane sconces. That's my go to between holidays.

Thanks for the inspiration! I currently have one large mirror on my fireplace and three sets of candlesticks arranged on the sides--mismatched pairs. I also have a big letter "b" and four little votives in the front. I'm a huge fan of layering on mantels and I particularly love the one with the shabby white fireplace. By the way, I've seen some mirrors very similar to that recently at home goods for only 29.99! Hmm...maybe it's a calling!

I'm constantly changing stuff on our mantle. I have decided that every house we own must have a fireplace! I would love to put a mirror over ours, but I tried and it just reflects the ceiling fan. Not the prettiest reflection.
