Inspire-Me Tuesday~

Today I'm thinking about home offices and studio spaces.

If you want a lot of inspiration for creative studio spaces pick up a copy of Where Women Create. So much amazing talent! WOW! They just came out with a new issue (I've got to run and grab myself a copy!) No, they didn't pay me to tell you this...I'm just a big fan!

Here are a couple of the things that I have in my little computer closet/home office. You'll notice that they are cropped in very closely....because my little office space isn't done yet...as in no walls...just studs. Just keepin' it real.

I just love dance...maybe it's my20+ years of it...These photos are beautiful and inspiring to me.

And this little vignette has my little New Year's fairy (because I've decided 2009 is going to be MY YEAR! - hey, a girl's got to have goals, right?) A little dry erase board, I made using a pretty frame, some ribbon snippets, and some scrapbook paper behind glass. (Really...you can write on the glass with a dry erase marker and it will come right off.) And a pretty glittery star that the Princess painted on my Christmas giftwrap this year. It's the little things that inspire.

Edited to add: My bloggy friend Kasey over at Lola B.'s posted yesterday on her beautiful Studio/office and even talked about Where Women Create. I didn't see her post until today, but asked her if I could link to it. Pop over and take a look. BEAUTIFUL. Tell her Wendy sent ya!

Go forth, inspire, and be inspired.

Great work space inspiration...I purchased a stainless work table to use in our studio/office area (I did a post awhile back). Our area has been used mainly by the kids but with the second one leaving for college in the fall I am planning to take it over and have also been gathering some ideas to make it work for me.

That is going to be so neat to have an office space in your basement. I know it will be beautiful! Love the dry erase board with your pixie on top!

What a great idea for the dry erase board...any frame with glass could work!

No kidding? Dry erase markers on glass? I have always hated having them in the kitchen (or anywhere, for that matter) because they're ugly.

Thanks for a wonderful idea. Yay for inspire-me Tuesdays. :)

This is inspiring me to get in my craft room and clean all that junk up! I haven't been in there to create in ages because it's so depressing. It's a great space too! Baby steps. I'll do it ten minutes at a time!

Lisa...oh yeah, one of my favorite places to use them is on mirrors. Cute trick if you want to leave someone a message early in the morning...like...don't forget to take out the garbage ;-)

What a great post! Last year made my formal dining room into my office and I love it! I purchased a big square desk with four workstations from Pottery Barn Teen and it is so great. My kids do their homework and projects in there and I do all of my scrapbooking, projects, creating in there. I also got some really cute cabinets from IKEA for the walls and painted the room a really happy green. Good luck with your space - how exciting!

If you want, I have some pictures of what my office turned out like on my blog.

Have a great day!

I love the PB table! I have read on other blogs that Flickr is a great place to find inspiration photos for office/creative space.

I love the little frame - I never knew you could write on glass with dry erase markers, either. Love that! And the little star is precious. :)

I love the book "Where women create." I just read the article in Martha's magazine yesterday regarding office and work spaces. I really enjoyed looking at the inspiration boards, also. I like what you chose as your inspriation.

This was a really great post to me because as I was reading the comments I realized how many women now have home offices. Imagine that 20 years ago... Even if we are not professionals, we have our space to do whatever we wish (and it seems to be mostly creative!)

I'd like to mention that up until recently, my niece worked for Martha Stewart Weddings. I should ask her if she has any "work pictures".

Have a great week!

If you or anyone could see my office/craft room/library right now, they would think that they had the ultimate space. You've inspired me to press forward, and get this room in order.
THANKS!! Have a great day.

Wow!!! I am inspired. Sis and I are still spread out between my home and hers with all our "stuff". We started organizing a large space in her upstairs room for our little studio. Way past due....

I have open shelving in my studio/library and I wish I had more closed space. I don't like the pressure (mostly that I put on myself) to keep everything cute and match-y all the time. And I can't 'think' if I see clutter.
It's a curse really.

And I am hopping on over to Goodwill right now to find a beautiful frame that I can make into a dry erase board. What a cool idea!
