I'm gonna party like it's 1999 or something like that~

Okay, so I realize the title of this post dates me. And actually, I have a wicked cold, and a kiddo with the stomach flu, so we're not really going to party at all. Just hang out at home and snuggle up in front of the TV. But we do have a little tradition here at the Shabby Nest that I thought it would be fun to share with you.

Every New Year's Eve, the New Year's fairy comes to visit. She just drops off a few goodies (food goodies, not presents) as a wish of prosperity and plenty in the new year. That's why I decided to make the little pixie above holding a banner with 2009 on it. She's this year's New Year's fairy!

So, what do you all have planned? Parties? or Watching the ball drop on TV? Whatever it is...I hope you have a safe and wonderful time ringing in the New Year!

We're staying at home with our little ones, having one family friend over with her daughter and ordering Chinese. We've got noisemakers, hats & sparkling juice for the kids. I copied an idea from Joy at Joys of Home and turned one of our little Christmas trees into a New Year tree - it's adorable! My 3 1/2 year old just woke up & saw it & he's thrilled! I wish you & your family joy, peace & love in the coming year!

we will be staying home as well. Three out of the four are recovering from the flu (2nd time around). I was wondering what we could do with the kids, and that is a great idea. Thanks.

No plans here, just watching the ball drop on TV and probably reading and blogging. Same as every night!

Happy New Year Chica!!!! Sorry you have a cold and a kiddo with a bug. I'm not much for going to big anonymous parties, in huge venues that are way over-priced. My neighbors have a rockin party for the whole neighborhood. They put up a heated tent (some years we don't need the heat on down here in Houston). Everyone brings snacks and beverages--the host provides party favors (Hats, noise makers), jello shots, and blackeyed peas and breakfast tacos at midnight. There's a band that plays from 9:00 - 1:00 and its within walking distance. It's become a fun neighborly tradition. Enjoy your evening and hope the fairy brings you some delicious goodies. Happy New Year!

We never go anywhere anymore....just too dangerous to drive. I do hope all of you get feeling better soon.

Happy New Year and I am so glad I "met" you through blogging. I look forward to more of your great posts in 2009!

We are heading to a friend's house for a small get-together. She has a little one that my boys love to play with. We are heading home early, to escape all the potential crazy people on the roads. :) Happy New Year!!!

hi wendy! i hope everyone is feeling better. our little tradition around here is take-out chinese food followed by "the countdown" with our boys. when they were really small we would countdown to 7 p.m., then last year 8 p.m., maybe this year it will be 9 p.m. -- we'll see! we put on hats and toot horns and go crazy at the strike of the hour. then when the kiddies are asleep, my husband and i attempt to stay awake* to toast the new year with champagne. *talk about showing my age!!! LOL happy new year, sweetie! xo
